In the 250F division, power is a huge factor. Triumph designed its fuel-injected liquid-cooled DOHC four-stroke 250cc single-cylinder engine to have the broadest, most usable, and highest peak power in class. The British manufacturer claims the TF 250-X produces 47.3 hp and 21.1 lb.-ft. of torque.Triumph
The DOHC cylinder head uses finger followers to reduce valve train weight, and the connecting rod features a plain bearing design, all to aid in increasing peak power and rpm.Triumph
The TF 250-X uses a traditional close-ratio five-speed gearbox.Allan Brown
Power delivery starts at the air filter and airbox. It’s no surprise the TF 250-X uses a Twin Air filter. The airbox features a vented cover standard, and a non-vented cover is included with the bike for extreme conditions.Triumph
The stock exhaust system features an integrated Helmholtz resonance chamber on the header and an additional side resonator in the muffler. The silencer is bolted together, making it easier to service.Allan Brown
Akrapovič has developed a full titanium Evolution Line exhaust system that’s said to be 1 pound lighter than stock and provide a strong increase in power from 9,000–13,000 rpm. Triumph also includes an Akrapovič-specific engine map via its MX Tune Pro app.Triumph
Regulating how much fuel and air enters the engine is a Dell’Orto 44mm throttle body with a single Keihin vertically pointed injector spraying fuel into the intake tract.Allan Brown
As is the case with some other manufacturers, Triumph specs a Brembo hydraulic clutch system.Allan Brown
The clutch pack is controlled by a Belleville spring.Allan Brown
Electronics are controlled with a Get ECU and various features. You can connect to the ECU wirelessly to load an additional 10 predesigned maps, monitor the EFI system, read sensor values, and check fault codes via Triumph’s MX Tune Pro app.Triumph
The handlebar-mounted switch on the left allows you to quickly turn on launch control (LC), quickshift (QS), traction control (TC), and switch between two preloaded EFI maps.Triumph
A compact engine start-and-stop switch is located on the right side of the handlebar, which features a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) that illuminates if the ECU detects a fault.Allan Brown
KYB was chosen to handle suspension duties. The Air-Oil Separate (AOS) 48mm closed-cartridge coil-spring fork offers compression and rebound damping adjustability. Spring rate is 4.7 Nm in both legs.Allan Brown
The KYB shock features low- and high-speed compression and rebound damping adjustability. Spring rate is 56 Nm.Triumph
The TF 250-X swingarm’s hydroformed beams have a unique shape.Triumph
Brakes are controlled with Brembo hydraulics clamping on Galfer rotors. Front disc is 260mm in diameter and the rear is 220mm.Triumph
Designed by Triumph, the hubs are cast to be lightweight and machined to the British manufacturer’s final dimensions.Triumph
D.I.D DirtStar 7000 series aluminum rims are paired with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid Soft tires front and rear.Triumph
ProTaper’s ACF handlebar is one of the many high-end components spec’d on the TF 250-X. It rests in bar mounts connected to Neken 7075-T6 forged and fully machined aluminum triple clamps.Triumph
An hourmeter is nicely tucked behind the front number plate.Triumph
The 2024 Triumph TF 250-X is available in Triumph Racing yellow/black/white with an MSRP of $9,995. It will be on dealership floors in March 2024.Allan Brown
