2023 GasGas MC 450F Factory Edition Dyno Test

Dyno testing GasGas’ special-edition 450 MX bike for horsepower and torque.

Before releasing its completely revamped lineup of 2024 dirt bikes including full-size motocross, cross-country, enduro, and dual sport models, GasGas unveiled a pair of special-edition motocross bikes that gave the public a preview of what was to come in MY24. The larger-displacement model of the duo, the MC 450F Factory Edition, was debuted by Justin Barcia in the 2023 AMA Supercross series, where he captured a victory at the East Rutherford round and finished fifth overall in the championship standings.

Seeing the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas Factory Racing rider’s success aboard the new model had us excited to ride the stock version of it. Before taking the MC 450F Factory Edition to the track, however, we had to run it on our in-house Dynojet 250i rear-wheel dynamometer. Peak figures from the fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke 450cc single-cylinder engine were documented at 55.2 hp at 9,500 rpm and 33.7 lb.-ft. of torque at 7,400 rpm.

“The MC 450F Factory Edition engine has a perfect mixture of raw torque to pull up the famous Glen Helen hills, yet manageable enough power to navigate tight corners and rutted sections without upsetting bike balance,” test rider Cody Johnston said. “The most noticeable spots in the powerband are bottom-end and over-rev as they’re both perfect in amount.”
