2023 GasGas MC 450F Factory Edition Technical Information

Features and specifications of GasGas’ special-edition 450cc motocrosser.

After introducing its first special-edition motocross bike last year with the MC 450F Troy Lee Designs, GasGas unveiled a pair of completely new models for 2023 with the MC 250F Factory Edition and MC 450F Factory Edition. The duo have been given the latest-generation Austrian platform that was first seen on KTM’s 2022 Factory Editions and Husqvarna’s 2022 Rockstar Editions, but with some model-specific components such as all-aluminum subframes and unique bodywork. Before we publish our first ride review of the first-ever MC 450F Factory Edition, let’s dig into some of its specs and highlight the trick parts featured in stock trim.

Sharing little in common with the standard MC 450F, the 2023 GasGas MC 450F Factory Edition features a new platform and provides a glimpse at the updates we can expect on the 2024 GasGas motocross and cross-country models.Jeff Allen
The new fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke 450cc engine is more compact and said to be lighter. Clutch is stock, but there is a Hinson Racing Billetproof cover with GasGas Factory Racing logo for aesthetics.Jeff Allen
A stock header pipe is employed along with an Akrapovič Slip-On Line titanium muffler with United States Forest Service (USFS)-approved spark arrestor.Jeff Allen
GasGas’ all-new special-edition 450cc motocrosser produces 55.2 hp at 9,500 rpm and 33.7 lb.-ft. of torque at 7,400 rpm on our in-house Dynojet 250i rear-wheel dynamometer.Jeff Allen
While the MC 450F is devoid of selectable engine maps, traction control (TC), launch control, and quickshift (QS), the MC 450F Factory Edition has it all.Jeff Allen
Engine start and stop buttons are combined on a switch on the right side of the Neken handlebar.Jeff Allen
Like the standard model, a WP Xact 48mm air fork is employed, but with an updated setting to match the more rigid central double-cradle chromoly steel frame.Jeff Allen
All damping adjustments on the new WP Xact 5750 shock are done by hand.Jeff Allen
Red-anodized split triple clamps by GasGas Factory Racing have an adjustable offset of 20mm or 22mm, the latter being stock.Jeff Allen
Wheels are upgraded over the standard model with black D.I.D DirtStar rims, spokes, and rear sprocket, red hubs and spoke nipples, and Dunlop Geomax MX33 tires.Jeff Allen
A gold X-ring chain from D.I.D is yet another up-spec part.Jeff Allen
Brembo brakes are a highlight on all of GasGas’ full-size motocross bikes.Jeff Allen
Front brake disc is the same diameter as the standard model’s at 260mm, but is semi-floating instead of fixed.Jeff Allen
Another component from GasGas’ Technical Accessories catalog is the front brake disc guard, which is made of carbon fiber and plastic.Jeff Allen
GasGas’ standard-model full-size dirt bikes (motocross, cross-country, and enduro) do not come stock with skid plates. Its Factory Editions, however, are given this high-end 2K carbon composite piece.Jeff Allen
The gripper seat cover doesn’t have ribs like KTM’s and Husqvarna’s special-edition motocrossers.Jeff Allen
Grips are ODI lock-ons, but a softer compound than the standard model’s.Jeff Allen
To help keep the front end down on dirt starts, GasGas includes a WP Factory holeshot device.Jeff Allen
Red Bull graphics look awesome, especially on a red bike.Jeff Allen
The airbox cover is quite large. The front of it (where the bull’s legs in the graphics are) connects to the left-side radiator shroud.Jeff Allen
Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GasGas Factory Racing is known to have some team sponsors from outside the motorcycle industry, which are featured on the graphics. Sony Pictures is one example, and there are also lesser-known companies such as 1 Less Than 2 Ltd.Jeff Allen
Hitting Dirt Rider’s automotive scales at 242 pounds wet, the MC 450F Factory Edition weighs eight pounds more than the standard MC 450F.Jeff Allen
