2022 Yamaha YZ250F Dyno Test

How much power does the bLU cRU’s 250 four-stroke motocross bike churn out?

Spoiler alert: the Yamaha YZ250F took the victory in Dirt Rider’s 2022 250F Motocross Shootout. Since the bLU cRU reversed the cylinder head on its 250 four-stroke motocross bike back in 2014, it has been praised for having strong low-end to midrange power and an abundant torque feel. However, it hasn’t been a top performer on the dyno, and 2022 is no different.

The YZ250F produces 38.9 hp and 17.8 pound-feet of torque on the Dirt Rider dyno. With those numbers, it ranks fifth in peak horsepower and makes the least maximum torque of all the bikes in the class. It just goes to show that peak figures don’t tell the whole story. The Yamaha is our favorite 250F motocross bike on the dirt dyno—aka the track, which is where races, championships, and comparison tests are won or lost. The YZ250F is a winner.
