2023 KTM SX and SX-F Model Teaser Preview

A sneak peek at KTM’s motocross and cross-country racers for MY23.

KTM’s 2023 motocross and off-road competition bikes are on their way. The introduction of the 250 SX-F Factory Edition and 450 SX-F Factory Edition gave us our first idea of what the Austrian manufacturer’s 2023 SX, SX-F, XC, and XC-F models have in store for updates. And we’ve even caught a glimpse or two of the new-generation cross-country models being ridden at local SoCal tracks.

KTM’s motocross and cross-country models will be all-new for 2023.KTM

Most recently, KTM sent out a press release with partially shadowed images of the MY23 two-strokes and four-strokes along with an invite to the official 2023 SX Range Launch to be presented online this week. Leading up to the unveiling of these all-new models, we wanted to share some of what we’ve seen and heard about them. A disclaimer though: Some of the information presented in this article is speculation and hearsay. But as the old proverb goes, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” We will find out if our predictions and assumptions are correct soon enough.

Word is the two-strokes will be fuel injected.KTM
Expect the 125 SX and 250 SX to have electric start and a dual map switch in MY23. There’s talk of a 300 SX being added to the motocross range as well.KTM
Rumor is the 150 SX will be dropped from the 2023 lineup. However, you’ll likely still be able to buy a big-bore 150 SX Factory Kit from KTM’s PowerParts catalog to turn your 125 SX into a 150 SX.KTM
The 250 SX-F and 450 SX-F will share engine, suspension, and chassis architecture with the 2022 Factory Editions. Same goes for the 350 SX-F, except it will have a new engine of its own.KTM
The 2023 standard models won’t have an orange frame, Factory Racing split-finger triple clamps, or other eye-catching orange anodized components like the ’22 Factory Editions, but the basis of the limited-edition machines will carry over.KTM
One of the differences between the 2023 KTM and Husqvarna motocross and off-road competition models will be airbox ventilation. While the orange bikes have openings on each side, Husqvarna’s will be closed off.KTM
New footpegs offer a larger platform and are mounted inward on the frame to reduce dirt buildup in the pivot.KTM
Not the Selle Dalla Valle gripper saddle as used on the Factory Editions, but the seat cover does feature a new grip pattern. The seat itself is noticeably flatter from front to rear and less round than the prior-generation 2019–2022 models’ as well.KTM
Radiator shrouds feature a similar grip pattern as the seat cover.KTM
The gas cap and handlebar appear to be among the few items that aren’t new on the 2023 KTM SX and SX-F models.KTM
