2024 KTM 300 XC-W Hardenduro First Look

Austrian manufacturer’s dirt bike for those with extreme enduro aspirations.

Much like it does with a Factory Edition model of its flagship 450 SX-F motocrosser and mid-displacement 350 XC-F cross-country racer, KTM also offers a special-edition version of its top-of-the-line two-stroke enduro bike—the 300 XC-W. From 2020–2023, this special was called the 300 XC-W Erzbergrodeo, but the Austrian manufacturer has changed its name to 300 XC-W Hardenduro for 2024.

The 2024 KTM 300 XC-W Hardenduro represents the Austrian manufacturer’s fifth iteration of its special-edition 300 two-stroke enduro model.KTM

The basis of this model is the 2024 KTM 300 XC-W, which means it boasts an all-new platform with a throttle-body-injected (TBI) liquid-cooled two-stroke 293cc engine that features an electronic power valve. Suspension is different from prior models with a WP Xact 48mm closed-cartridge coil-spring fork and redesigned WP Xplor PDS (Progressive Damping System) shock. Chassis is completely new as well, including a firmer double-cradle chromoly steel frame, two-piece polyamide/aluminum subframe, refined bodywork, and more.

In addition to having all of the same updates as the standard-model 300 XC-W for 2024, there’s plenty of protection pieces and orange-anodized bling.KTM

Up-spec features and components are aplenty including a radiator fan to help prevent the engine from overheating in the inevitable slow-going sections of hard enduro along with front and rear pull straps in case the rider needs to manhandle the bike over obstacles. As is common on Factory Edition models, there’s a Selle Dalla Valle ribbed seat cover to keep the rider in place while sitting and a composite skid plate to shield the undercarriage from obstacles.

According to claimed specifications, KTM’s special-edition 300 two-stroke enduro model weighs 234 pounds wet, without fuel.KTM

The 300 XC-W Hardenduro rolls on a Factory wheelset with D.I.D DirtStar rims. For brakes, KTM specs a floating front disc protected by a composite guard and a solid rear with safety wire to ensure it stays in place. Orange parts are seen throughout including the frame, CNC-machined triple clamps, wheel hubs, spoke nipples, clutch slave cylinder protector, Supersprox Stealth rear sprocket, rear brake disc guard, frame guards, and oil fill bolt.

Ringing in at $13,049, the 300 XC-W Hardenduro costs $1,600 more than the standard 300 XC-W.KTM

In the control area, we find soft-compound gray ODI lock-on grips, wraparound hand guards, and a handlebar pad with FIM Hard Enduro World Championship logo. Tying the bike altogether are model-specific graphics with gray accents. The 2024 KTM 300 XC-W Hardenduro is available now for a suggested retail price of $13,049.
