The last time Kawasaki produced a full-size two-stroke dirt bike for the United States market was in 2007 in the form of the KX250, and its smaller-displacement KX125 sibling was discontinued in 2005. The Japanese manufacturer hasn’t made a full-size two-stroke model since, but there’s reason to believe that’s about to change.
Kawasaki sent out a press release over the weekend titled, “We Heard You.” A short video (which can be viewed above) showed comments from people on social media asking for the return of a KX two-stroke dirt bike, and it sounds like Team Green is going to fulfill that request as the statement confirms it has a new two-stroke model currently in development.
Will it be a motocross, cross-country, or enduro model? What will its displacement be? Will it be carbureted like the Yamaha YZ250 and YZ250X, or fuel-injected like KTM’s, Husqvarna’s, and GasGas’ full-size two-stroke dirt bikes? What will it look like? We can’t wait to have these questions and the many others we have answered when more details about it are released.
