In the Pit Party at round 6 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, Yamaha unveiled an all-new youth motocross bike—the YZ65. According to Yamaha, the new mini machine is intended to help bridge the relatively large gap in its product lineup between the PW50 and YZ85, providing a more seamless transition for younger riders when moving up to a larger blue bike, and offering a potent weapon of choice for riders racing in the 65cc class.

The YZ65 features a liquid-cooled two-stroke engine, which is equipped with Yamaha’s YPVS (a mechanical power valve system), a Keihin PWK28 carburetor, and a six-speed transmission. Suspension-wise, the YZ65 is spec’d with a KYB 36mm coil-spring fork while the shock is a link-less design, and both ends can be tuned via adjustable compression and rebound damping. In the chassis department, the YZ65 features a steel frame, an aluminum subframe, front and rear disc brakes, a four-position adjustable handlebar clamp, and Maxxis Maxxcross SI tires front and rear. The all-new Yamaha YZ65 retails for $4,599 and will be available in April.
