JGRMX YZ-F/FX Exhaust Shields Review

Save a (very) little weight, add (a touch of) bling, and complete that factory look

JGRMX YZ-F/FX Exhaust Shields; $99.99JGRMX

There are lightweight versions of pretty much every dirt bike part, exhaust shields notwithstanding. Here we have JGRMX's Exhaust Shields for Yamaha's modern four-stroke models that we bolted up to our 2017 YZ450FX. On the scale, these come in at about 0.8 ounce, which is more than 2 ounces lighter than stock (2.9 ounces).

Installation reuses the stock bolts and wire heat-resistant washers, yet the left-side guard’s holes were spaced just a tad too close together. We didn’t have to cut anything, just had to use some elbow grease to get the bolt to bite into the thread. Naturally we tried to bend and flex them with our hands to see how tough they are, and they don’t yield a millimeter. These are really hard. After a couple of rides they look great with no heat damage and no real signs of scrapes or gouges from our boots or aggressive branches.

So if you want to save a little (and we mean a very little) bit of weight and add a touch of bling to your bike, this isn’t a bad way to do it. And when you consider that replacing these shields with stock pieces would cost you $40.76, the price looks a tiny bit better.
