The Malcolm Smith Motorsports /Sunstar Racing For Life Offroad Team announces today that the legendary Malcolm Smith and JN Roberts will be joining the team to compete in the 40th Anniversary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Malcolm Smith will be leading off the race and represent the team during opening ceremonies. Malcolm Smith and JN Roberts won the first overall motorcycle race in 1967 aboard a 1967 Husqvarna 360 and will compete again on a specially prepared 2007 Husqvarna, Model TC 510.Malcolm Smith, often referred to as the goodwill ambassador of off road, is a pioneer in off-road motorcycling. He gained fame for his overall victories in the Baja 1000 and for his gold-medal winning rides in the International Six Day Enduro competitions, but by far his biggest claim to fame was being a star of the influential 1970s motorcycle movie, "On Any Sunday." He is the founder of the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation which supports Hogar de Ninos, El Oasis, a children's orphanage in Valle de Trinidad, Baja California. Malcolm lives and works in Riverside, California where he actively operates Malcolm Smith Motorsports, a major motorcycle dealership and service center.JN Roberts began late, competing in his first race in 1964 when he was 22. In 1967, Husqvarna sponsored him and JN Roberts began winning races: 27 desert events in a row, the Mint 400 twice, the Baja 1000 twice, and four straight victories in the Barstow to Vegas race! In the early 70's, Roberts moved on to become a very successful stuntman in pictures including "Days of Thunder," "Little Big Man," and "Mr. Hollands Opus." JN's son, Jimmy continues his legacy in stuntwork and the father/son often work together.
