Monster Energy/Yamalube/Star/Yamaha Racing’s Aaron Plessinger achieved his third-straight overall victory at round 9 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at the Washougal National in Washougal, Washington. Plessinger now holds a 59-point lead in the series standings.

“I definitely did not know I won,” Plessinger said. “I had luck on my side in that one. Shane [McElrath] was riding awesome. I got the start, [he] passed me and pulled away from me. That was that. Then I crashed and got behind [Dylan] Ferrandis and couldn't get back by. That’s what happens. These guys are riding so good and you can’t afford to make a mistake, but somehow everything worked out for us today.”

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy grabbed third overall on the day with a win in moto 1, and after a quick tip-over at the start of moto 2—which sent him all the way back to 24th—he was able to make his way back up to ninth by the time the checkered flag flew.

“Obviously it would have been nice to get the overall, but considering how things have gone this year, it’s a step in the right direction,” Savatgy said. “It felt good to get the win and I know I’m capable of it. When things are clicking it’s awesome, so I hope to keep this momentum going and finish the season strong.”
