Following major revisions last year, Honda decided to leave its 450cc motocross bike alone for 2026. The CRF450R is proven in stock form (winning our 2025 450 Motocross Bike Comparison Test) and in factory trim competing at the highest levels of professional dirt bike racing in the United States (clinching the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship and SuperMotocross World Championship titles).
One of the CRF450R’s many positive attributes is its engine. Honda’s fuel-injected liquid-cooled SOHC four-stroke 450cc single-cylinder mill is praised for strong power below 7800 rpm, and still puts up commendable numbers at higher rpm. In running the 2026 model on our in-house rear-wheel dyno, we documented peak figures of 52.6 hp and 33.7 lb.-ft. of torque.
“The 2026 CRF450R is most impressive in the low-end to midrange regions of the power curve,” test rider Casey Casper said. “It will rev with the best of 450cc powerplants, with clean and crisp ECU settings, but truly excels when ridden in the meat of the torque curve.”
