Cycra is known for its innovation, and the new Stealth moto guard is one of its best. Many riders love a slim and light hand guard, even if they ride only moto. Who wants to get roosted digits? One of our editors earned a broken finger thanks to moto roost! The problem has been making a hand-guard system that is effective, easy to install and easy to manufacture. That is especially true with all of the aftermarket perch assemblies on the market. Cycra has solved that problem with unique billet-aluminum bar-mount brackets. There is none of the hassle of mating "universal" plastic guards to your perches. The Stealths are light and sized for MX-style riding, and they mount to the bar independent from any of the controls. We worried about interference, but even on our Honda CRF250R with a hot-start lever mounted to the clutch perch, there was no trouble. The guards went on quickly and easily. The slim bracket slipped right between the perch and the hot-start lever without interfering with either. A Honda throttle has an extension that maintains a proper gap between the throttle and the front-brake master cylinder. We trimmed that back with a cut-off wheel. We also used a fine needle file to radius all the bracket's external and internal edges. The protection from the roost and minor brush is as good as any moto-type guard. Stealths come in black, blue, green, natural, orange, red, silver, white and yellow. These hand guards should fit aftermarket clutch perches and folding levers. The Stealth is $54.95, and replacement Stealth shields are $21.95.DR Tested: 8.0Cycra: 740/929-0188; www.cycra.com
