The 2025 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) kicks off in mid-October, and series promoter SX Global has declared that Stark Future will compete in all five rounds. This announcement makes Stark Future the first fully electric dirt bike team to join the starting gate of WSX and compete against internal combustion engine (ICE) models in an FIM-sanctioned supercross championship.
The Barcelona-based effort will be led by Stark Future racing director Sébastien Tortelli serving as team principal. Stark Future’s racer lineup will be confirmed at a later date, but the four riders are said to come from an ICE dirt bike background, so their ability to move to an electric motocrosser will be on display in WSX this year.
“Stark Future’s entry represents a major milestone not just for World Supercross, but for supercross as a whole,” World Supercross vice president of race development Kurt Nicoll said. “For the first time in our championship, fans will witness electric and combustion bikes racing together on equal terms at the very highest level. It adds another interesting layer of competition for our fans to experience—it will raise our racing to another level.”
Over the last two years, Stark Future has worked closely with the FIM to ensure performance balances against ICE models as well as safety regulations for its Varg. An example of the former is each Stark electric dirt bike competing is said to have 36 onboard sensors providing real-time data and transparency to officials in an effort to ensure fair competition.
“This is the beginning of a new chapter and a great milestone for the future of supercross as a sport,” Stark Future founder and CEO Anton Wass said. “Working with Kurt and the team has shown that World Supercross is fully committed to pushing boundaries and creating a platform so that we can prove that electric belongs on the same stage as combustion engines. We’re here to compete at the very top level. We know we’re fast out the gate, so it’s going to be a really exciting challenge to be out there racing the best teams and riders the sport has to offer.”
