Houston 250 Class Photo Finish

The top 10, in photos, from the 2018 Houston Supercross

In the second round of the Monster Energy Supercross series, an FIM World Championship, Monster Energy/Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha's Aaron Plessinger grabbed the victory at NRG Stadium in Houston, enabling him to take over the point lead in the Western Regional 250SX class championship. Plessinger rebounded from a 10th-place start and methodically worked his way through the field to claim his first victory of the 2018 season.

Finishing just behind Plessinger in the runner-up spot was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy. Savatgy nabbed the holeshot and led for about 12 minutes before he was passed by the hard-charging Plessinger for the lead. Savatgy’s second-place performance put him in third place in the point standings after two rounds.

Rounding out the podium in third place was GEICO Honda’s Chase Sexton, which was a career best finish for the 18-year-old from Illinois. Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM’s Shane McElrath ran in second place for most of the race before jumping off the side of a rhythm lane, consequently allowing Plessinger to get by. Behind McElrath was GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig, who grabbed his second consecutive fifth-place finish.
