Competitive Edge Amateur SX Series - Monday Race Report - Dirt Rider Magazine

Competitive Edge MX Park has introduced an all-new Amateur Supercross track to their location. It is very unique in the sense that no other motocross facility in southern California has a layout quite like this. It's fun and safe for that young and inspired kid who has dreams of racing at Anaheim someday, and at the same time it has the potential to challenge intermediate and pro level riders. The variety of line choices and different rhythm options are definitely what keeps this track so challenging and exciting lap after lap.

The staff at CEMX carried out a great smooth running schedule. Sign-ups started at 4pm and practice followed at 5pm. Each riding group had 10 minutes to get dialed in, find the fast lines, and get comfortable on a type of track that most of the guys hadn't experienced before. Just 10 minutes for each practice session may not seem long enough to get accustomed to an all new track, but with lap times under a minute it wasn't too difficult to learn the good lines and remember the jumps. Although it was a race, I seemed to have just as much fun racing on a toned down supercross track with a lot smaller crowd cheering me on. To top off the night, we found the pit party and were able to grab a couple of hot dogs from a generous group of guys cooking over their campfire.

On October 30th, 2010 the group at Competitive Edge kicked off the first race of the four round series. The remaining three rounds will be held on November 6th, 13th, and 20th. The track was built by former supercross rider Joe Oehlhof with the help of John Foster at JF Track Builders. Some great companies are stepping in to offer their products in the raffle. Prizes in the raffle include supercross tickets and pit passes to all California rounds, helmets, gear, a Leatt brace, and a Hinson complete clutch to name a few. Not to mention the top five in each class get custom trophies in the shape of a helmet along with a goody bag full of certificates to discount your next purchase towards your bike.

After the Amateur Supercross series is over, Competitive Edge plans to keep the track open on Saturdays and Sundays for open practice from 8am-2pm. The first weekend of open practice will be November 27-28th. To come and ride the supercross track, the cost will be $30, but that will also allow you to ride on the main and hillside tracks. If you have no desire for supercross then it is just the regular $20.
