Supercross ClassRicky Carmichael on the team Makita Suzuki returned to Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis and took the win as Reed and Stewart hooked up and went down on the first lap in front of 58,131 fans. Chad Reed regained his composure after giving Carmichael an early retirement gift and found himself in 8th place while James Stewart was left trying to restart the big green machine. Stewart ended up at the back of the pack, dead last, before he got his bike re-lit. RC capitalized on the third lap by overtaking the number 917 of Eric Sorby to assume the lead. Ricky never looked back. Carmichael laid down seventeen perfect laps and protected the lead of what was at one point more than twenty seconds on Stewart.Methodically working his way back through the field, and riding like a madman, Stewart weaved his way around riders and finally, on lap twelve, found himself pulling up behind Chad Reed. Stewart took second place by passing Reed in the same corner where they had both been gone down together before. Chad Reed seemingly conceded the position to James Stewart and settled into third place until the finish. Heading into retirement, the win for Ricky Carmichael was his fourth in St.Louis; his last win at the venue was in 2005. Last year he finished last with a DNF.Chad Reed, after the race stated, "I'm tired of being pushed around by James and I'm going to put an end to it." For RC; If it ain't rubbin, it ain't racin.Supercross Lites EastRiding the #101 Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawaski, Ben Townley won the holeshot award and managed to hang on for the win after trading positions for the lead throughout the fifteen lap main event. Trading positions with teammate #105 Darcy Lange, the heated race saw the two teammates working together to protect the lead. Lange went down on the last lap in a turn that proved somewhat tricky after a whoop section and small triple. The racing action was intense and exciting as the East Lites Division's second race has another first-time winner - it was Ben Townley's first Supercross Lites win.
