The 450s were the first practice again this week for the TV schedule, so they had to deal with a wetter track then they are used to. Weston coming up to the mechanics straight you can see all the mud caked on his bike in only one lap. On Thursday night there was a strong storm that dumped a lot of rain on the track, so the conditions were a lot muddier then in the past. Weston turned a 2:01.165 on his second lap of the timed practice for the 6th position.Photo by Rob Koy
Weston’s bike after the first practice still had mud caked on the tires as the team did get most of the mud off it. Instead of pressure cleaning the bike the JGR team just gave the bike a quick wash to get it ready for the second timed practice.Photo by Rob Koy

Weston said the track was still muddy for the second timed 450 practice. He wondered why the crew went ahead and used the water truck to water the track. Weston turned a slower time of 2:03.103 so he used his first practice time for the 7th gate pick in Moto 1.Photo by Rob Koy

Weston got into 5th place on lap four and matched the pace of the top 5 guys and finished the Moto in 5th place. Weston said the only bike changes they made all day was using a different tire for Moto 1.Photo by Rob Koy

In Moto 2 Weston got off to another good start with a top 10 position after the first turn. Weston hung around the 7th and 8th place for most of the race then at the 3/4 mark off the race Weston said he had to go into survival mode as the heat started to get to him and he was getting dizzy out there. Weston Peick went 5-9 for 10th overall at Muddy Creek and said he was happy with his results, and that is was something to build on for the rest of the series.Photo by Rob Koy
