VIDEO: Nelson & McElrath Rip The Red Bull Straight Rhythm Ride Day

Prior to the official running of the 2015 edition of Red Bull Straight Rhythm at Fairplex at Pomona, southern California riders were treated to a little teaser of the event at Pala Raceway, where a smaller, toned-down version of the Straight Rhythm track was built and opened up to the public. Riders of all ages and abilities showed up to try their hand at a style of track foreign to just about everybody. Two riders who were not totally unfamiliar with it, however, were the Troy Lee Designs KTM duo of Jessy Nelson and Shane McElrath. Both riders took advantage of the opportunity to get their feet wet on a Straight Rhythm track as they prepare themselves for the stacked 250 class at Pomona.

Jessy Nelson is an odds-on favorite in the 250 class coming into Straight Rhythm 2015. He had a phenomenal start to the 250SX West series at the beginning of the year, and then just closed off the “normal” season with a dominant 1-1 performance at the MXGP of the USA at Glen Helen. He took third at this event last year, and will have to deal with his new teammate and the guy who finished second last year, Justin Hill, but Nelson has steadily improved year after year in his professional career, and once again is coming into the end of 2015 with more confidence and speed than he has ever shown.

Meanwhile, Shane McElrath will make his 250 debut at Straight Rhythm, where he rode the 450 in a one-off race last year. Shane is just coming off his sophomore year as a pro, one that saw him make leaps and bounds in the 250 class in both Supercross and the outdoor nationals. McElrath might not be the favorite coming into Straight Rhythm, but he is showing up to win.
