Trailside Snacks To Keep You Going On Your Ride

Satisfy your hunger when on the trails.

No matter where you are riding, you often end up miles from home or camp and a few items are must-haves when you make a trek like that: tools, water, and snacks. On a recent on- and off-road riding trip to the Sierra mountains my group was encouraged to bring snacks in our backpacks and bring extras for our fellow riders just in case we needed a boost of energy to keep us riding the rest of the day, or in case a mechanical failure of a dirt bike happened and left us stranded. Snacks like beef jerky, energy bars, and trail mix are important to have with you so you can stop your growling stomach from echoing in the woods.

Jack Link's Beef Jerky

Beef jerky provides a great energy boost when you are out on the trails. It is also easy to pack along in your backpack.Amazon

One of my personal favorites to take on any active adventure is a pack of beef jerky, specifically Jack Link's jerky . It is filling, tasty (psst, get the Teriyaki flavor), and only 80 calories per 1-ounce serving. Finishing the whole 9-ounce pack in one sitting will be difficult to resist.

CLIF Bar Chocolate Chip Energy Bars

It’s always nice to look at the ingredient list and see “organic” throughout: organic brown rice syrup, organic rolled oats, organic cane syrup, organic roasted soybeans, organic soy flour, organic oat fiber, organic high oleic sunflower oil, and organic cinnamon.Amazon

Packed with nine grams of protein, four grams of dietary fiber, and 45 grams of total carbohydrates, the Clif Bar is another go-to when you are going for a ride on the woodland trails. Every bar is made with wholesome non-GMO ingredients like nuts, dried fruits, organic rolled oats, and real chocolate. Beside chocolate chip, the other Clif Bar flavors include white chocolate macadamia, chocolate brownie, blueberry crisp…the list goes on.

Power Up Mega Omega Trail Mix

A great grab-and-go snack that will cause you to munch down on handfuls of the dried fruits, nuts, and seeds medley.Amazon

Trail mix is perfect for the, well, trail. With a great mix of dried fruits, nuts, and pumpkin seeds, trail mix like the Power Up Mega Omega pack provides you with antioxidants, omega-3 "heart-healthy" fatty acids, protein, and vitamin B. No artificial ingredients, sulfates, or other preservatives in the Power Up Mega Omega blend.
