Red Bull's Moto Spy: Tristan Charboneau

Red Bull's "Moto Spy" premiere episode follows Honda freshman Tristan Charboneau's pro debut at Hangtown.​

What is it like to be an AMA professional motocross racer? At the sport’s highest stage, what separates the pretty-damn-goods from the greats? We all see the races, and the podium champagne spraying the eager, sunburnt fans, but what is the day really like for the sport’s greatest racers? Presenting "Moto Spy," a series wherein each episode will follow one of the sport’s elite through one day of racing the 2016 AMA Pro Motocross Nationals, with an in-depth perspective that pays tribute to moto’s classic “The Great Outdoors” series of the early 2000s.

In the "Moto Spy" premiere, Red Bull follows GEICO Honda rookie Tristan Charboneau in his first pro motocross race ever at round one of the series at Hangtown. Amidst all the round one hysteria, coupled with the hype around Pro Circuit Kawasaki prodigy Austin Forkner, Charboneau came into the opener relatively under the radar, something that he used to fuel his drive to put the CRF250 up front in his first pro race.

With an incredible sixth in his first moto, Charboneau was effectively on the radar. His was the best debut moto by a rookie since Cooper Webb took fifth in the Hangtown opener in 2013. Tristan had also handily defeated his rookie rival Austin Forkner, cementing his status as a serious player in the 250 class in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. With a ninth overall on the day after a hard-fought second moto, Charboneau, who entered Hangtown a bit of an underdog, left knowing that he had the chops to run with the sport's best.
