Ken Roczen and Joey Savatgy kicked off the 2016 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Series with big wins this weekend at the GoPro Hangtown Motocross. Here’s a look back.

Naturally, Ken Roczen was pleased with his 1-1 performance at Hangtown, saying after the race, “We’re in a way better position than we were last year. I can go out and can focus on my riding. It is a new season and everybody has a chance at the title. I want to bring this kind of focus to every round this season.” Roczen goes to San Bernardino next weekend with a six-point lead in the standings.Photo By Jeff Kardas
Ryan Dungey had to be pleased with a 2-2 since he has never won the Hangtown race. Look for the Red Bull KTM rider to get back on the winning pace when the series moves east.Photos By Jeff Kardas
Blake Baggett was third in the first moto, but fell and broke his collarbone in the second moto. “We’ll see where we’re at and be back to fight for sure,” Baggett said. “I’ll regroup and hopefully be back soon.”Photos By Jeff Kardas
Like Baggett, James Stewart also crashed and left the race with a shoulder injury after popping it out of place early in the first moto.Photos By Jeff Kardas
HRC Honda’s Cole Seely grabbed the holeshot to start the first 450 moto, and ran near the front before settling into fifth. His 5-10 performance was good for sixth.Photos By Jeff Kardas
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Josh Grant finished eighth overall with a 8-8. Felt good to get out here and ride two strong and consistent races. I feel like I’ve got more to offer but for it being the first round, I’m okay with leaving here in eighth. Looking forward to Glen Helen next weekend.”Photos By Jeff Kardas
