Alloy is a new gear company, and it seems to have taken the approach necessary to break into the trendy motocross market. After taking one look at its super-stylish catalog, you'll see it has the design skills and vision to get it done in this industry. Alloy has definitely taken the right angle with its image, so we just had to take a set of its new gear for a spin. We knew instantly the GP1 pant was going to be a winner, as it is loaded with our favorite features. The waist closure system utilizes a large flap that comes across the fly and snaps into place using two heavy-duty buttons. We prefer a system like this because it's easy to use with your gloves on, and it virtually never comes undone mid-moto. We also like the dual cinch adjusters at the waist, because they help avoid showing unwanted back crack for those of us who use grippy seat covers. We haven't put much time on these pants yet, but overall, the construction appears to be fine. The pant legs leave plenty of extra room for knee braces, and they seem to bend comfortably in all the right places. The Xi jersey is also a quality piece of gear. It has all of the features we expect from a top-notch race product. We like all jerseys that have a V-neck collar and thin unrestrictive micro-cuffs. As with the GP1 pant, Alloy has done a terrific job of putting the finishing details on this product. On the other hand, the ATOM glove is our least favorite item in the Alloy lineup. The quality of materials and construction seem to be fine, but the glove fingers are a bit tight. The glove palm is also way too padded for most of us. We take a great deal of pride in our rhinoceros hide-like calluses, so we always tend to favor gloves with light padding.Alloy has done a great job with its new products. This company oozes coolness and definitely deserves a serious look for those who are interested in bringing a new style to the track. We're hoping it will come out with some color schemes that include more white, because the summer months are creeping up and the darker tones don't help when you're baking alive. If you want to hook up a set of gear from this company, our advice is to check out the Alloy website. It's probably the most user-friendly, coolest-looking gear company site on the net.
