Women's Motocross Association and Rick Johnson MX School Of Champions Join

The WMA and the MX School of Champions have joined together to provide women riders with first-class motocross training at a special rate. The WMA MX School of Champions' first program will be held on May 4th at Glen Helen Raceway, San Bernardino, CA, the week prior to the opening round of the AMA/WMA National Motocross Championship at Glen Helen.Seven-time AMA National Motocross/Supercross Champion Rick Johnson has been operating the MX School of Champions for more than eight years. Last year Johnson brought nine-time Women's Motocross Champion and former professional mountain biker Mercedes Gonzalez onboard as his partner and a Chief Instructor. Gonzalez has worked with some of the top WMA pro racers and has hosted schools for women's motocross in the past, as well as having been an advisor to the WMA (and previously WML). This year, they also hired Justin Maley, a multi-time Australian State and National Champion and former support rider for Suzuki Canada, as another Chief Instructor. The schools will feature a Rick Johnson Certified Chief Instructor along with WMA Pro Racers as assistants. The class will cover everything necessary to sharpen technical riding skills, jumping, cornering, starts, line picking, proper body positioning, mental training, and will offer unique value and insight that comes with the multiple championships. The schools will take place in conjunction with major women's events."Having raced the same tracks as Mercedes Gonzalez and at some of the same events, I truly appreciate what it takes for girls to go racing," said Rick Johnson. "Now that both my daughter and wife ride, I find it even more important to be involved with the Women's Motocross Association."WMA Pro Racers will also be available at the schools to share their experiences with racing the women's nationals, seeking sponsorship and more.
