Windham Pulls off Impressive Win in Anaheim

Tedesco Takes Fifth 125cc win(January 31, 2004) - Honda rider Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., won his second THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series race in front of a sold out (45,050 fans) Edison International Field in Anaheim, Calif. Kawasaki's Ivan Tedesco, of Murrieta, Calif., won his fifth consecutive THQ AMA Supercross Series 125cc Western Regional championship race.Series points leader Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., moved into the lead, earning the $1,500 Butterfinger Holeshot Award over Windham. On lap five, four passes took place between Reed and Windham with Reed holding the number-one position until lap 14, when Reed went inside of Windham and crashed. Between lap five and 14, an additional 11 passes were made between Windham and Reed. The crash sent Reed to third place, allowing LaRocco to move into second place. With two and a half laps to go, Reed re-passed LaRocco and finished second."I heard during the week that no rider has ever won all three races at Anaheim, so I wanted to be the one who stopped the streak," said Windham. "That was a great race, and it's inevitable that the whole season is going to be racing like this. The way my bike worked through the whoops really helped me."Kawasaki's Stephane Roncada, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., won the $1,000 Butterfinger Holeshot Award as he edged teammate Tedesco through the apex of the first turn. Tedesco trailed Roncada for the first 10 laps before making the move into the lead on lap 11. Travis Preston, of Hesperia, Calif., moved his Honda past Roncada to secure second place."It seems like each week gets harder to win the race," said Tedesco. "I was glad I passed Stephan (Roncada) when I did because Travis (Preston) was catching up fast.THQ AMA Supercross Series 125cc Western Regional Event Results, Anaheim, Calif.
