How Much Power Does The 2018 Honda CRF450RX Make?

Our dyno tells the tale

The Honda CRF450RX, along with its motocross-focused brother the CRF450R, were all-new last year. Both bikes featured the sixth generation of Honda's aluminum twin-spar frame, a new Showa 49mm coil-spring fork, and an all-new Unicam engine. For 2018, the CRF450RX received a few minor changes including an upgraded lithium-ion battery to reduce weight and increase performance along with the removal of the kickstarter to further cut weight.

On the subject of weight, the '18 CRF450RX came in at 255 pounds on our automotive scales. Shortly after weighing it, we mounted up a D404 street tire that Dunlop provided to use for our dyno runs to gather horsepower and torque figures. The CRF450RX puts 52.7 hp to the ground at 9,440 rpm, backed up by 33.6 pound-feet of torque at 7,450 rpm.

We will see how those numbers translate on the trail with a first impression and full review, so stay tuned to see how Honda's flagship off-road model performs in the field.
