Gary Sutherlin Finishes Third in National Hare & Hound Season

The Troy Lee Designs rider closed out the season with third podium this year

Riding the desert terrain in Johnson Valley, California, Troy Lee Designs rider Gary Sutherlin closed out the 2016 National Hare and Hound season with his third podium of the year this past weekend with fellow TLD rider Ivan Ramirez finishing 12th after suffering a mechanical issue.

Sutherlin had his sites set on another podium finish and after getting a mid-pack start and coming around the first loop in seventh, he wasn’t sure if he would be able to get it. Sutherlin’s never-give-up attitude helped him pick off riders during the second loop and he was able to mount a charge back up to third place overall. Despite missing several races due to injury, he also finished fifth overall in the Pro class standings.

The 2015 champion Ivan Ramirez looked as if he was going to be joining Sutherlin on the podium, but misfortune happened out on the third and final loop, forcing him to retire early from the race, being credited with 12th in the Pro class. With injuries also stunting his season progress, Ramirez finished ninth overall and looks to 2017 for redemption.
