2010 GEICO MiniMotoSX Race Results - Dirt Rider Magazine

The doors of the Orleans Arena began to admit over the fans around 7pm for the 7th annual MiniMotoSX. Traxxas borrowed the track for some high-flying RC action just before the Thrillbillies trophy truck brought the hostess Laurette Nicoll. Alongside Laurette came a furry hamster, his trainer and the rest of the silliness and havoc that follows the Thrillbillies crew. The MM10 Stock/Mod class revved up the arena and Clint Johnson took first in class. Followed by CHP's Austin Politelli taking 10-inch Youth class, Brandon Schreuder taking 10-inch Amateur class. This event is not limited just to the men, Erika Short podiumed the Women's class for her second consecutive championship. Behind her followed Tatum Sik just seconds shy of the #1 spot. Jimmy Peyras took home in the 12-inch Amateur title. There was even a class for the guys that never grew up and the biggest kid of 'em all piloting a Pitster Pro bike was Mike Reefman who won the 35 Plus class. Supercross rider Tiger Lacey nabbed the 12-inch Stock/Mod title. MiniRider.com contributor Carson Brown schooled his class up until the white flag lap when he slid-out in the first corner letting Robbie Wageman speed by and take the checkers in the 12-inch Stock/Mod Youth class. Austin Politelli liked the podium so much, he decided to take the 12-inch Youth class title as well. Not all the classes consisted of the freshest pit bikes, it was Zac Hays who swept the 8-inch Vintage class. There's a new race in town open to gas or electric powered motorcycles and it's the 16-inch Amateur Stock/Mod class. The Quantya and Zero bikes came to Vegas to challenge the ever-popular 150cc mini bikes. Just as the moto started, it was a Quantya electric motorcycle that stole the holeshot. The electric bikes conquered the race, Drew Gosselaar won the class title and the Zero e-bikes followed with the next four finishing spots. The sneaky electric two-wheeled machines have two big advantages over the gas bikes -there's no clutch to worry about and no noise so you're able to sneak up on the leader without a peep. The answer became apparent that the electric powered bikes could definitely take on the modded 150cc gas-powered motorcycles. What's next for these eco-friendly "dirt bikes"?The expert classes were highly anticipated and well-stacked. In the MM10E, it was BBR's Derek Costella that claimed the top honors. In the 12-inch expert class, Michael Blose piloting the a Red Baron race machine ran away with the win, while Frenchman Mike Valade and Derek Costella followed with 2nd and 3rd on the box. The night ended with an epic win for the MMSX World Championship title from Las Vegas local and favorite Derek Costella.2010 Geico MiniMotoSX Race Results****10 Stock/Mod - Race 1
