Despite crashing in yesterday's qualifying Teka Suzuki World MX1 Ken De Dycker remained positive and started off the Grand Prix with a strong win in the opening moto. The Belgian passed countryman Desalle after a couple of laps and carried on to win with a big advantage over the LS Motors man. The final heat was harder for De Dycker but he soldiered on to finish third and grasp his first season's win at home, moving up to fourth in the Championship as well.Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Max Nagl was second overall, mounting again on the podium in Lommel after last year's third place finish. Nagl won the final moto but struggled in the first heat after a bad start - he finished sixth eventually.Championship leader Tony Cairoli turned a bad weekend into a good one, as he secured the podium despite a disastrous qualifying yesterday and lost just two points from runner up Nagl. Cairoli took two bad starts in the heats but recovered to fifth and second in each moto.Steve Ramon was fourth overall at his comeback race after he injured his neck at Valkenswaard. The overall result, including a third place finish from heat one, showed the Belgian is ready for a strong finale to the 2009 season.Being the third home rider in the top five, Desalle was fifth overall as a second moto crash at the first corner damaged his pipe - after a noise control Desalle was given a one minute penalty and dropped down to ninth.Aprilia Racing's Priem ended eighth overall despite two good starts to the heats. The Belgian ended right ahead of defending Champion Philippaerts, who had a bad day.Strijbos, coming back this weekend despite another crash last week hampered his right shoulder, was ninth in heat one but had to pull out of heat two due to a technical issue.Ken De Dycker: "This is a hard Grand Prix so for sure I am really happy to win. I have not had many good GPs this season so it is nice to finally enjoy one. The first moto was decent but the second was not perfect Overall of course this is the result that we wanted and with three races to go I want to get in the top three of the championship. I think it is possible if I keep giving my best all the times right until, the end."Max Nagl: "It was a good result for me it's just a pity that in the first race I missed the start because the sand was very soft and my rear wheel went into the ground too much. If you don't get a strong start then you struggle to get your rhythm. Then I managed to get the holeshot in the second race and it was much better. I quickly got into a good rhythm and it wasn't raining so the track was drying out a bit. Also Stefan Everts (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Team Boss) advised me not to push too hard in the first laps but instead to save my strength for the second half of the race. I was in front for most of the time in the first half of the race then I managed to pull away and it was easy to ride and to go on and win."Antonio Cairoli: "I am satisfied because this is only my second sandy race with the 450. I made a mistake on Saturday and after two average starts today I had to push really hard. I could pass Max and David on the last lap of the first moto and that was some important points for the championship. Max was really fast in the second race and I could not catch him. Motos can be decided in the last ten minutes on tracks like these and I knew my physical condition was good; Max was just a bit too far away."MX1 Race 1 top ten: 1. Marvin Musquin made a superb comeback to the GP scene by taking victories in both Belgian motos, winning his first GP on the sand since he is racing in the World series. The Frenchman of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing went on to win both heats with a large advantage, as he even made to cross the finish line with an 18 seconds lead in the second moto.Joel Roelants took the second spot on the overall podium, with the Belgian taking the honour of becoming the highest placed home rider in a hard fought GP. KTM Factory Junior MX2's Roelants was stuck in third in moto one with damaged goggles but in the final heat he stormed to a well deserved second.LS Motors Honda's Verbruggen grasped his maiden podium at home. The former European Champion took fifth in heat one and added a strong third place finish in moto two to leave Goncalves outside the podium by just one point. The Portuguese was second in heat one but he ended a tough final heat in eighth, dropping down to fourth overall. The main consolation for Rui Goncalves was his move up to second in the Championship, right ahead of previous runner up Paulin. An incredible Roczen took fifth overall courtesy of two strong recoveries - the young German started from 35th after he damaged the bike in a qualifying tangle. Suzuki fellow rider Jorgensen was a surprising sixth.Kawasaki fellow riders Paulin and Frossard had a tough weekend as they ended 14th and 35th respectively - Frossard actually had two dnf.Zach Osborne once more as the American attempted his third comeback from a broken left wrist picked up at the GP of Portugal in May. Sadly the demands of this particular round took its toll and the American failed to score in two eventful motos but at least gained some valuable race mileage.Marvin Musquin: "I missed one GP but I came back strong and I am very satisfied with my result. My training has been going very well lately and my bike and the suspension are perfect, even though this is a very bumpy track I had no problems with the bike and for this I would like to thank my team and their great support. Now I have signed my contract (with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) for the next two years so I am very concentrated and relaxed. Maybe this result today has something to do with the bike," the newest member of the Red Bull KTM team line-up said.Joel Roelants:"It's great to be on the podium although I did expect to do well here at home. I tried hard to catch Rui in the first moto but I didn't manage it. Then in the second I tried to catch Marvin because I really wanted to win but he was just too fast. I am now going to concentrate of having a good result at Loket and I will try to beat Marvin when we race again on sand at Lierop,"Zach Osborne: "A very hard way to come back! I did OK during the warm-up and felt alright but went back to square one with a difficult first race. In the second moto I got a good start and kept going and going until I had a pretty big crash going into the bomb-hole and it took me ages to restart. I can only build on this result and go into the GP next weekend with a bit more confidence and see how it goes."MX2 Race 1 top ten: 1. Marvin Musquin (FRA, KTM), 41:56.587; ; 2.
