Daytona Road Trip at Millsaps Training Facility aka MTF - Feature Review - Dirt Rider Magazine

They say you should try and learn something new every day. Well I'm game for that so I decided to make a quick two-day stopover at the Millsaps Training Facility (MTF) for an upcoming story in Dirt Rider. I'm not going to go into too many details other than to say I got my butt kicked!I jumped right into an ongoing training camp on Monday morning. After shooting a few photos I got schooled in starts, sprinting, turns, jumps and training—and that was just the first day.Colleen Millsaps, Suzuki Factory rider Davi's mom, runs the camp like a drill sergeant and really expects top performance and best effort out of her students. It was surprising how much she knows about going fast and how well she can push you into doing it. I didn't realize how much I'd forgotten, but she quickly reminded me of all those lost techniques, and showed me a few more.
There were a few Supercross riders who stopped by to train on the SX track during my stay. Most of the regular kids who live and train at MTF were in Texas for some of the big amateur races, but there were riders from Ohio, New York, California and as far away as Canada down for a week-long training camp. For more info on MTF, check out www.mtfmx.com.After my second day, my plan was to head back to Orlando, Florida for the opening day of a huge minibike park. But the threat of rain made the extra eight hours of driving seem like too much of a gamble. So we packed it up and headed West back to California in a marathon two-day driving session. So that's the end of the Daytona road trip. Be sure to check the pages Dirt Rider for even more on our cross-country trek.—Jimmy LewisMore Daytona Road Trip stories:
