The Weekly Dirt: April 13, 2011 - Dirt Rider Magazine

Welcome to The Weekly Dirt, the place to go each Wednesday to catch up on the latest happenings in the realm of off-road motorcycling. This past week I've been in the southeast, spending time at the Jason Raines Riding University in Traveler's Rest, South Carolina; the Big Buck GNCC in Union, South Carolina; and at the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie, Tennessee.

Charlie Mullins is on a roll. The FMF/KTM rider got his second GNCC win of the year at the Big Buck GNCC in Union, South Carolina, this past weekend, after holding off a late-race charge by FMF/Makita Suzuki's Josh Strang. It was a bit of redemption after the last round where he threw away the race in the final turn. This season is turning into a good battle between these two riders and I'm sure it's going to go down to the wire.

WORCS racer Kyle Summers rode the Am Pro Yamaha vacated by the injured Thad DuVall at the Big Buck, finishing an admirable 11th in his first GNCC. Summers is from Colorado and he told me before the race that he thought he was ready for the tight woods. After the race he said it was "way tighter that he had imagined", although he added that he wanted to come back and race another GNCC.

Dirt Rider Associate Editor Chris Green attended the Jason Raines Riding University to do a story for an upcoming issue. He works his students hard, but they all seemed to enjoy it and came away with plenty of sweet nuggets of riding tips. Green is a

Chris Green also attended a school at the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie, Tennessee, where he got a taste of some feet up style of riding. TTC is an awesome place for off-roaders to get away or get some off-road or trials instruction. BTW, Green is a fast learner.
