AURORA, Ill. (December 30, 2008) - Feld Motor Sports announced today that Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) will once again be the official Technical Institute of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.MMI began its support of Monster Energy Supercross six years ago and has been an integral part of the bonus program where they award the $500 MMI Top Tech award to a technician during each AMA Supercross class main event of the season.

"Monster Energy Supercross has an incredible fan base that truly knows and understands the sport and what it takes to work as a technician on a professional supercross team. Only the best of the best make it to this level," said Terry Emig, director of Event Marketing and Motorsports at MMI. "As a technical training school, it is important to provide recognition for the technicians, the guys who get very few accolades but have a tremendously difficult job."In addition to their Top Tech program, MMI has worked with seven-time Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath to create the MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship. The MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship is designed for students with a passion for working on motorcycles to submit an application and a two-minute DVD expressing why they should receive the scholarship. For the first time, the 2009 scholarship funds will be divided among first, second and third place recipients in the amounts of $10,000, $6,000 and $4,000, respectively. The MMI/Jeremy McGrath Scholarship enters its sixth season of association with Monster Energy Supercross. Last year, Tyler Sherbert, of Star, NC was awarded the scholarship and has since enrolled to attend school at MMI's Orlando, Fla. campus. Previous recipients include Matthew Langham (2007), Mary Morgan (2006), Todd Hunn (2005) and Eric Salava (2004)."MMI has been a long-standing supporter of supercross and a sponsor that does more than just look to increase brand awareness with the fans;" said Mike Travi, Feld Motor Sports/Director of Client Development.
