EnduroCross Comes East To South Carolina - Dirt Rider Magazine

ANAHEIM, Calif. (September 8, 2008) The AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Championship Series, presented by Lucas Oil, is headed to the East Coast for the first time in its history and is attracting some new faces for this weekend's event in Florence, South Carolina. With the championship wide-open, current leader, Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ricky Dietrich, plans to return from the ISDE in Greece just in time for Round 3! His competition will include series regulars such as teammates, Damon Huffman and Destry Abbott, Lucas Oil's young gun, Colton Haaker, as well as a few new faces such as motocross/supercross legend-turned-off-roader... Red Bull KTM's Mike Brown! With series favorite and Round 1 winner, Red Bull KTM's Taddy Blasuziak, out with an injury, the racing action will be boiling over with excitement, as several exceptionally talented riders plan to battle for the win, such as Zip-Ty Yamaha's Ty Davis and Nick Brozovich, as well as the always exciting Kyle Calderini and Wally Palmer! This first-time southeast event will also draw North Carolina based, Joe Gibbs Racing and their young star, Josh Summey. With what is sure to be the usual incredibly technical and insanely difficult EnduroCross track, Round 3 is sure to be a pivotal race in the chase for the 2009 AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Championship!"This season is truly unpredictable," points out EnduroCross originator, Eric Peronnard, while commenting on the competition. "Ricky (Dietrich) is on a role in all he races this year and now with guys like Mike Brown showing up... you just never know what Florence will bring!"The series, now its second season, was originated as a single grand Vegas-style event in the Orleans Arena for 3 years before the organizers decided to take the show on the road in 2007. This weekend's event, Round 3 of 6, in Florence, South Carolina will mark the first time the series has been "east of the Mississippi" and in the heart of hare scrambles and woods racing country. The incredible action will again be captured by Lucas Oil and the Versus Network, to be aired on the popular grassroots racing program, the Lucas Motorsports Hour. Given the excitement and unpredictability of this indoor version of off-road racing, along with the added competition, it looks to be an amazing event in the Florence Civic Center!_EnduroCross tracks incorporate various elements of Off-Road racing into a supercross-style setting, including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water-hole... and even a few special obstacles like giant tires! Known as the "toughest racing on two wheels," this indoor version of extreme off-road racing will keep you on your feet.
