Pirelli-Backed Marsack Marches To Career-Best 4th-Place Finish In San Francisco - Dirt Rider Magazine

Rome, Ga. - Without a doubt, the story of the weekend was Pirelli-backed Jacob Marsack's inspired, fourth-place ride in the AMA Supercross at Round Four of the Monster Energy Supercross championship at San Francisco's AT&T; Park Saturday evening. The Berlin, Mich., rider powered his Pro 30/Bad Boy Honda to the best finish of his career on an evening when most riders rode to just survive.Earning his way into the main event with a fifth-place finish in heat one, Marsack didn't let the momentum stop. Marsack's results took center stage on the CBS Sports television broadcast and the live Internet webcast, giving the hard-working privateer the notoriety he deserved for besting some of the class' top factory riders. Marsack currently sits 18th in AMA Supercross class points standings."This is a monumental moment for both Jake and Pirelli," said Pirelli MX Manager Josh Whitmire. "We've worked hard to give our riders the best set up regardless of the condition, and tonight is a good example of the success that we will build on as the season moves on."Joining Marsack in the AMA Supercross class main event Saturday night was MotoXXX/Tamer/Hooters/Honda's Eric Sorby, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., who finished 14th overall after scoring an eighth-place finish in his heat race."Although the conditions forced the riders to dig deep, Sorby stepped up to the challenge and pulled down a solid 14th-place overall and is in 19th-place in points standings. I wish there were five more laps because he didn't let off the gas for one minute. Sorby started the season with a 12th-place finish, so we know he can run up there with the top guys."Four Pirelli riders qualified for the Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class main event, including brothers Chris and Michael Blose, Michael Willard and Eric McCrummen. In heat one, Michael Blose, McCrummen and Chris Blose finished seventh, eighth and ninth respectively as they earned a gate position for the main.Chris Blose, of Phoenix, Ariz., pushed his Fun Center Suzuki to an eighth-place finish in the feature, while his brother and teammate finished 10th. Willard, of Thornville, Ohio, finished 14th on his Team Cycra Honda and McCrummen, of Oakley, Calif., finished 18th on his SVM/ Bud Selct Honda.Atop the Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class points for Team Pirelli is Chris Blose in 13th place with 29 points. Fellow Pirelli teammates Jeff Northrop (14th place), Michael Blose (17th place) and Michael Willard (20th place) are all within the top 20 in points.Heading into the third and final race at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., Team Pirelli looks to capitalize on the success of their Round Four results. With a combined six riders in the top 20 in AMA Supercross/Lites class, things are about to heat up for Team Pirelli.AMA Supercross Class Results, San Francisco
