CMA Oceano Dunes Beach Race And Festival - Dirt Rider Magazine

The fourth annual CCMA Oceano Dunes Beach Race & Festival will take place on October 19, 20 and 21, 2007 at the Oceano Dunes SVRA (aka Pismo Dunes). As in years past, the race will consist of an off-road motorcycle and ATV race on an enclosed and marked seven to eight mile natural course which will be set up in the Oceano Dunes. Supplementing the race activities will be a vendor area, fundraiser dinners and a watercraft competition. Following are some highlights.1. WORCS RACE. For the second year in a row the race will be part of the WORCS off-road race series. WORCS (World Off-Road Racing Championship Series) is one of the premier off-road racing series in the United States featuring both motorcycles and ATVs (www.worcsracing.com). The 2007 event will include expanded racing for side-by-sides (Yamaha Rhinos, etc) and small buggies. There was awesome racing last year in these up-and-coming classes and even better racing is expected this year.2. CELEBRITY/ CHARITY RIDER CLINIC. On Friday, October 19th, there will be a rider clinic conducted by national caliber professional racers under the auspices of the Road 2 Recovery Foundation (www.road2recovery.com), a non-profit foundation dedicated to assisting injured motocross racers. This is a new component for the Beach Race resulting from the generous collaboration offered by Road 2 Recovery.3. WORLD TOUR WATERCRAFT FREERIDE COMPETITION. The CCMA Beach Race will be the venue for the final round of the 2007 International Freeride Watercraft Association World Tour (www.IFWA.com.br). The watercraft event will take place at the site of the Beach Race which will allow spectators and participants the opportunity to experience both the WORCS race and the watercraft competition.4. CHARITY DINNERS AND FUNDRAISERS. This year there will be two fundraiser dinners. One will take place on Friday evening (6:30 p.m.) at a beautiful setting on the Pismo State Beach Golf Course. This elegant fundraiser/dinner will feature Dr. Jean Peduzzi-Nelson, a nationally recognized researcher in the field of spinal cord injury. The second fundraiser dinner will be on Saturday evening (approximately 6:30 p.m.) at the conclusion of the days racing. It will consist of a BBQ in a large tent located on the beach at the race site.5. CHARITABLE PURPOSE. As with past events, this event raises funds for SCI Research Advancements, a foundation dedicated to supporting research leading to finding a cure for paralysis cause by spinal cord injury (www.scicure.org). It also raises funds for the Clayton Memorial Foundation, a foundation that assists injured motorcycle racers (www.cyclenews.com).Save the date and spread the word.
