David Knight Takes Endurocross Victory - Dirt Rider Magazine

KTM's David Knight earned his first AMA number one plate at the Maxxis Endurocross Saturday night. Knighter won the night's main event over Suzuki's John Dowd and young Kawasaki rider Ricky Dietrich to take the second Endurocross Championship title and $10,000.Knight got a mid-pack start but quickly worked his way up, passing other front runners Ivan Cervantes, and John Dowd. Knight was in second behind Ricky Dietrich (who led the first laps of the main), and Ryan Hughes. Hughes had a bobble on the logs which let Knight by. Then, a mistake by Dietrich let Knight by for the lead which he then took to the finish. The fight for second between Dietrich and Dowd was one of the night's best battles. Dowd was able to gain time on Dietrich when he began tripling through a tricky log section, which sent the sold out crowd wild.Former Endurocross Champion Ryan Hughes' night went south after nearly going over the bars when he knifed his front end in some logs. He fell back through the pack to almost last before the race's end.Check back on Dirtrider.com for more on Endurocross!

Ricky Dietrich tip toed across this log section while Dowd boldly tripled through it.
Second place finisher John Dowd was a favorite among the sold out crowd.
