AMA Suzuki GNCC Series Announces Largest Contingency Ever - News - Dirt Rider Magazine

The Suzuki Grand National Cross Country Series has reached its annual summer break, and the Racer Productions staff took the opportunity to calculate the total contingency money available to bike and ATV racers in the series. The total came to a staggering $2.4 million!"This is just awesome news for all of our racers," says GNCC Trail Boss Jeff Russell. "Best of all, the nearly two-and-a-half million dollars is spread out through all of our classes, so the riders who really need it can find enough money to get to the races."Over a dozen companies have stepped up with contingency money at each race, and several more will add to the pot by rewarding the top riders in the Suzuki GNCC standings when the series concludes. Companies backing the riders each week include GNCC title sponsor Suzuki, as well as Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Polaris, Maxxis, Pirelli, ITP, hlins, Klotz, Dunlop, Michelin, Alba Actionsports and EFM No-Stall Clutches.The $2.4 million is paid out in a variety of classes and finishing positions over all 13 rounds of the 2005 Suzuki GNCC Series.The Suzuki Grand National Cross Country Series will return from summer break with an all-new race in Yadkinville, North Carolina, on September 10 and 11.The AMA-sanctioned Suzuki Grand National Cross Country series is America's premier off-road racing series. The 13-round series is produced exclusively by Racer Productions. Cross-country racing is one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. The nearly three-hour long GNCC races lead as many as 1500 riders through tracks ranging from eight to twelve miles in length. With varied terrain including hills, mud, dirt, rocks and motocross sections, GNCC events are tests of both survival and speed.
