2005 AMA Events Calendar: Year-at-a-GlanceAMA Sports, the amateur and pro-am competition division of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), has announced that its 2005 season will showcase more competitors, more events, and more championships than at any time in the AMA's 82-year history.

For the third straight year, the AMA Sports calendar will conclude with the annual AMA Sports Awards Banquet, scheduled for Friday, November 18 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This annual celebration will honor nearly 400 AMA Sports and ATVA national champions. • AMA Air Nautiques Amateur and Youth Motocross National Championship: This week-long championship event will be held the first week in August at Loretta Lynn's ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Riders in ProSport, amateur and youth motorcycle classes, in a three-moto format over the course of the week, will compete to earn national championships. Special awards will include the Motocross Horizon Award, Veteran/Senior Motocrosser of the Year and Youth Motocrosser of the Year. In two premier Pro-Am 4-stroke classes, 250cc and 450cc, open to all licensed Pro motocross riders and eligible "A" riders, riders earn points toward a western national title. Promoters offer an entire amateur and youth motorcycle program in conjunction with the premier classes. • AMA Dirt Track Grand Championships: This week-long championship event, scheduled for July 3-10 in Springfield, Illinois, features ProSport, amateur and youth motorcycle classes on four different dirt-track venues: short track, TT, half-mile and mile. Riders will compete not only for National Championships, but also overall Grand National Championship titles. Special awards will include the Dirt Track Horizon Award, Veteran/Senior Dirt Tracker of the Year and Youth Dirt Tracker of the Year.
