Destry Abbott's KX250F Crash

Filming by Kris Keefer // Edited by Scott Smith and Adam Booth

As if it wasn’t already obvious, Destry Abbott is one tough dude. The multi-time Best In The Desert/ AMA National Hare and Hound Champion has made a career out of being a badass, but even in semi-retirement he is still finding ways to prove that he is an ironman.

While riding the new 2013 Kawasaki KX250F at the recent press launch at Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minnesota, Dirt Rider's Kris Keefer spent a few laps chasing Destry Abbott around the beautifully prepped National track. Thanks to a helmet-mounted GoPro camera, Keefer was able to get some sweet shots of the new Kawasaki in action, along with some clips of Destry Abbott's smooth style and floating whips. But what Keefer hadn't planned on catching on tape was a shot of Destry crashing his brains out. While coming up slightly short on a seat-bounce tabletop, Abbott caught an edge and was slammed to the ground—hard. Fortunately, the friendly racer walked away from the brutal crash with only minor bumps and bruises, and being the fan favorite that he is Destry encouraged us to post the video of his wreck.

Brace yourselves, this one is dirty! Props to Keefer for keeping the camera rolling, and huge kudos to Destry for being such an animal. We’re glad you’re OK, pal!
