Kamo started out well sitting in 3rd place after the bomb run behind Destry Abbott and his Shock Doctor/KTM teammate David Pearson. The three riders stayed close together for the first loop. The 48 mile loop was fast and dusty. "There was so much dust everywhere it was very hard to see," commented Kamo. "I just kept charging forward trying to stay as close as I could. When Abbott stalled his bike I was able to move around him on the first loop and David (Pearson) and I came into the pits 1st and 2nd."
