Bedford, Indiana: Multi-time champion Paul Whibley multiplied it again by winning Round 8 of the OMA National Championship series, and wrapping up the 2009 championship with two rounds remaining.
At the OMA Johnny Signs XC, held in Bedford, Indiana, Whibley rode his KX450F for Team JG Offroad/GEICO/Monster Energy/Kawasaki, fitted with the latest TTX suspension components from Ohlins USA, and took the first 1st-place finish at this new venue.
Whibley also has the points lead in the GNCC championship, which takes to the track after its summer break, at the Can-Am Unadilla, in Upstate New York, this weekend, September 12-13. There you will be able to see Whibley and his teammates, Jimmy Jarrett and Scotty Watkins, all using Ohlins TTX suspension components on their fleet of Kawasakis.
At the OMA event, Whibley earned the holeshot on the dusty, loose circuit, maintaining his lead for the entire 15-minute long loop , eventually challenged on the second lap by Thad Duvall. The traffic of lap riders quickly played into the battle for the podium, with the lead changing a number of times, until Duvall crashed. This was Whibley's eighth win in eight races, needing just two more for a perfect season, and no more for the 2009 championship. The next OMA National is the Moonshine GP, September 19-20, in Memphis, Missouri.
