Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac captured the overall win this past Saturday night at round 3 of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross series in front of a reported sell-out crowd of more than 45,000 spectators.
Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, hosted the first-ever Triple Crown event, a three-city showdown starting at Anaheim 2, where both the 250cc and 450cc classes competed in three main events of varying durations.
In the eight-minute first 450 main event, Cole Seely (Team Honda HRC) captured the lead on the opening lap ahead of Justin Brayton (Smartop/MotoConcepts Racing) while Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain ATV/MC/KTM/WPS) climbed to third. Tomac was fifth.
When the 12-minute second main event got underway, Tomac took the race lead and, ultimately, his first win of the season ahead of Seely and current point leader Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing).
At the end of the evening in the 15-minute third main event, Anderson ran away with the win, also holding on to his point lead, with Tomac in second and Brayton third. Tomac, who finished 5-1-2, was awarded the overall win with the lowest combined score.
