Colton Haaker clinched his third AMA EnduroCross title at the 2019 series finale inside the Ford Idaho Center in Boise, Idaho, this past weekend. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider began the day by setting the fastest time in the Hot Laps and won the first two motos of the evening. Heading into the final race of the night, he only needed a third place finish to take the overall win and the championship; he did one better by finishing in the runner-up spot. "You had to win the race to win the championship and that's why we are here," Haaker said. "I had a good night. That first race was great as I kept pushing and was able to make that last-lap pass. Race 2 was important to take the win and in the third moto, I was able to take a safe second to earn the overall. The three races this year were great and EnduroCross should be even stronger again next year."
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak put his orange machine in second place in the opening two motos and was able to win the final race of the night. His 2-2-1 moto scores gave him second overall for the evening and solidified his second place standing in the series points, but the Polish rider was not happy about being held up in the first race. “I felt like we were doing everything right to get it done and a lapper cost me a win in moto 1,” Blazusiak explained. “I feel like I executed my night to get a win, but a lot of things happen that are out of your control. The intensity of the three-moto format is so high we have to push our way through the pack. I hope to be back next year to fight for it again.”
RPM KTM’s Trystan Hart grabbed his second consecutive third place overall finish. The Canadian racer’s podium performances in the last couple of rounds solidified his third place ranking in the championship standings as well. “I really thought that I could race with Colton and Taddy and take a win tonight,” Hart said. “I have always done well here, but I just didn’t quite have the pace to battle those two. I am not satisfied with a third here, but I will try to improve in 2020.”
SRT’s Cory Graffunder and German rider Tim Apolle rounded out the top five, respectively.
