The 300cc two-stroke engine is a very popular displacement and engine type for off-road riders of all different disciplines, especially extreme enduros. Many choose a 300cc two-stroke due to its plentiful amount of power and torque, light weight, and ease of maintenance. Manufacturers in the 300cc two-stroke off-road dirt bike market include KTM, Husqvarna, Beta, GasGas, TM, and Sherco.

KTM’s 300cc two-stroke models for 2019 include the 300 XC, 300 XC-W TPI, and 300 XC-W TPI Six Days. The 300 XC engine is fed by a Mikuni 38mm flat-slide carburetor, while the 300 XC-W TPI and 300 XC-W TPI Six Days are both fuel injected with a Dell’Orto 39mm throttle body. KTM’s not-so-distant relative, Husqvarna, shares the same engine setup in its carbureted TX 300 and fuel-injected TE 300i.

Beta offers three 2019 model 300cc two-strokes—the 300 RR, 300 RR Race Edition, and Xtrainer. The 300 RR is intended for the casual off-road rider, the 300 RR Race Edition for the more serious rider or racer, while the Xtrainer was designed to be an entry-level off-road motorcycle. The GasGas XC300 and EC300 were completely new in 2018 and enjoyed minor revisions in 2019. Special-edition models of the EC300 include the EC300 Ranger and EC300 Six Days Chile. TM offers one 300cc off-road two-stroke in its 2019 lineup with the EN300, while French manufacturer Sherco produces three with its 300 SE Racing, 300 SC, and 300 SE Factory.
