KTM unveiled some new additions to their adventure lineup today, including the 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure and 2017 KTM 1090 Adventure R. Both bikes come as a refresh to the KTM 1050 Adventure, which is only offered in Europe, and slot in under the KTM 1190 Adventure and 1190 Adventure R.

The bikes are powered by the same LC8 1,050 cc V-twin engine which, in normal form, makes 125 horsepower (30 more than the current 1050) and 80 pound-feet of torque. KTM will also be offering a 95 horsepower version, which can restricted to 47 horsepower for the A2 licensing system.

Both models share the same steel trellis frame, slipper clutch, traction control, ABS, riding modes, and twin screen display and both share the same six gallon fuel tank. They each get a Brembo braking system, featuring 320 mm discs, radially mounted four-piston calipers, and Bosch 9M+ ABS

1090 Adventure

The 1090 Adventure is the road biased model, as it has 19 inch front wheel and 17 inch rear cast wheels wrapped in Metzeler Tourance Next trubber, a 43 mm upside down WP fork offering 185 mm of travel, and a WP shock, which is adjustable for preload and rebound damping and allows for 190mm of travel.

It also gets a black frame, and different graphics kit, to differentiate itself from its off-road biased brother. Seat height comes in at 33.46 inches. Dry weight at 452 pounds (the 1190 Adventure weighs 467 pounds).

1090 Adventure R

The R model designates the off-road biased version. The spoked wheels grow to 21 inches up front and 18 inches at the rear, and both come wrapped in our favorite Continental TKC 80 Twinduro rubber. The WP suspension system is fully adjustable at both ends, with a 48 mm fork up front and PDS shock at the rear, both allowing for 220 mm of travel.

The ABS has an off-road mode, allowing it to be disengaged at the rear, and the traction control system can be set to allow for differing amounts of slip under hard acceleration. The R gets an orange frame and an orange crash bar kit to help keep the bike safe when you inevitably tip it over. Seat height comes in at 35 inches. Dry weight is reported at 456 pounds, 22 pounds less than the 1190 Adventure R's 478 pounds.

The 1050 Adventure and Adventure R that these replaces have been Euro only models thus far, and there's no real reason to believe these will make their way to our shores, but that doesn't mean we can't hope they do find some way over.

Update: Only the KTM 1090 Adventure R will be coming to the U.S.
