Even though the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series just wrapped up, the AMA National Motocross Championships are a few days away, which means the local Southern California tracks are packed with the top riders shaking things down, testing settings, and getting ready for the long, hot summer ahead. On any given Thursday, you’ll find most riders out at Glen Helen Raceway, participating in what has lovingly become known as the “Stop Watch Nationals,” and last week was no different. In fact, since Glen Helen is again playing host to the second round of the series, they decided it’d be a perfect opportunity to give the riders a dress rehearsal on the entire National track layout—complete with two huge jumps.

For one hour, the Average Joes sat on the sidelines while the factory riders got a chance to shake things down, and get used to riding at speed with each other on a track that is likely going to be what we’ll see for round two of the season. Most riders used the time to make changes to their bikes, while also gauging their speed against the competition.
