For the second week in a row, MDK/Wonder Warthog Racing (WWR) team captain, Heath Voss, had a solid performance in the main event of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series, finishing a hard fought 13th place at Chase Field in sunny Phoenix on Saturday night. In addition, Daniel Blair continued his remarkable comeback by earning a main event spot. A dry track greeted the 12 riders in the DeCal Works Hog Haven Privateer Support Program. The rider line up this week was Heath Voss, Ryan Abrigo, Jiri Dostal, and Manu Rivas in the premier class, with Daniel Blair, Vincent Blair, Charles Castloo, Matty Dowell, Ramon Guzman, Tye Hames, Mike Horban, and Kevin Urquhart riding Lites bikes.9 riders worked their way through the afternoon qualifiers and into the night show, as MDK/WWR riders comprised 11.25 percent of the total field, a new record for the series.Daniel Blair rode like a man possessed, railing his Yamaha YZ250F to second place in the Lites LCQ. Blair is making a comeback following a two year hiatus and is stronger and faster than ever. http://inthemomentmedia.com/In_The_Moment_Media/Action-db-rider_profile.htmlThe action behind Blair in the LCQ was furious, with one of WWR's fastest-rising stars, Kevin Urquhart, leading Gavin Gracyk and Matt Lemoine in a tense battle for the final two transfer spots to the main event. On the final lap, Urquhart and Gracyk came together in a rhythm section, with both going down hard. Lemoine piled into the fallen pair and the worst was feared as neither rider appeared to be moving. Urquhart suffered a broken femur and following successful surgery expects to be back on his bike for the outdoor Nationals. Kevin was riding fantastic, but unfortunately, sometimes things happen in racing that are beyond our control...this incident certainly falls into that category. Our best wishes go out to Kevin for a speedy and complete recovery, and we'll have a spot waiting for him when he's ready to return.We here at MDK/WWR extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to Gavin Gracyk, his family and friends, for the loss of Gavin's father earlier in the week. The elder Gracyk fought a long and courageous battle against illness, passing to Gavin a strength and maturity beyond his years that will serve him well in life.Heath Voss showed why he is the WWR Team Captain, easily qualifying for the main event. Voss ran in the top ten for most of the main, before vision problems caused him to lose a few positions.
