KTM's reigning Enduro 3 world champion David Knight showed exactly why many consider him to be the world's best indoor enduro racer by comfortably topping the second running of the Genoa International Indoor Enduro. Finishing ahead of French rider Johnny Aubert and Italian Simone Albergoni in the six-lap main event, Knighter dominated both his qualifying and semi final races before leading from start to finish during the night's final. Never challenged Knighter claimed the chequered flag 16 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor to become the event winner for the second consecutive year. But Knight wasn't alone in flying the KTM flag in the Genoa final as he was joined by his KTM Enduro Factory Team Farioli team mates Alessandro Belometti and Andrea Belotti. For both riders the Genoa circuit proved to be every bit as challenging as it was enjoyable with both qualifying for the main event after eventful heat and semi final races. Youngster Belotti ran second to Knight for much of the opening half of the final before fatigue set in and he dropped back and into the sights of eventual runner-up Johnny Aubert. Eventually finishing 11 seconds adrift of third Belotti managed to finish ahead of experienced Frenchman Seb Guillaume. For 250cc four-stroke mounted Italian Alessandro Belometti the Genoa final was to be largely a disappointing one. One of the quickest riders during the evening's qualifying programme the former motocross racer suffered a terrible start, which effectively ended his hopes of a podium finish. Battling his way forward during the race Belometti placed a creditable sixth.David Knight – Race winner: "I got a perfect start, which really helped me in the final. I was a bike length ahead out of the gate so I cut across the other riders and lead into the first turn. I held my line in the first couple of turns and then just got my head down and pushed as hard as I could for the first lap. On the second lap I just concentrated on not making any mistakes as well as pushing reasonably hard. I could see that I was pulling away from the other riders so I just rode sensibly for a couple more laps and then had some fun on the last lap."I couldn't have asked for a better race. The whole evening was great. The track was pretty technical and really good fun. The track cut through to the concrete in a few places which was a bit dodgy but the hill was the trickiest part. It wasn't a problem as long as it was clear but if another rider got stuck on it then it was a bit hit and miss. Like I said the final went great for me and now I'm gonna head back to the Isle of Man and prepare for the Hell's Gate Enduro."Results '06 - Genoa International Indoor Enduro
