Makita Suzuki's Ricky Carmichael & Roger DeCoster Thrilled to Represent U.S. - News - Dirt Rider Magazine

American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) congratulates Team Makita Suzuki Racing's Ricky Carmichael and Roger DeCoster for being chosen to represent the United States at the 2005 Motocross des Nations (MXdN) on September 25 in Ernee, France."I'm really looking forward to racing the MXdN," said Carmichael, who will receive full Suzuki support and will campaign his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 in the prestigious event. "I've always enjoyed this event and the opportunity to work with Roger DeCoster. Now it's even better with us both representing the USA and Team Makita Suzuki."Often called the "Olympics of Motorcycling," the MXdN comprises three-man teams from around the world that compete for the MXdN title. The last time an American team won the MXdN was in 2000 at St. Jean d' Angely, France, and that team included Suzuki's Travis Pastrana as well as Carmichael.Five-time World Champion and Makita Suzuki Team Manager DeCoster will again lead the American team's MXdN effort. From 1969 to 1979, DeCoster contested the event while riding for his native Belgium and helped his team win six times (1969, 1972, 1973, 1976, 1977 and 1979). DeCoster began managing the American team in 1981."Well, on the one hand, we've created more work for ourselves in going to the Motocross des Nations," joked DeCoster. "This year will be fun to with Ricky, and also the other guys are riding good right now. Also, it's always good to go up against the Europeans."For more information on Team Makita Suzuki Racing, log on to www.suzuki-racing.com.
