Temecula, CA – As many of the top teams prepare to make the first stop of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross
Championship a different group of riders are also preparing their annual trek to Hangtown.
An event that was started by Pat Schutte over a decade ago brings the world’s best in action sports to the season opener at Hangtown. These 40 Crossover athletes all get the chance to feel like a pro motocross racer for the day. The Dirt Diggers roll out the red carpet and invite the Crossover for the VIP treatment prepping the pro track and providing a pit area and camping.
The field of Crossover racers pulls athletes from past and present Olympics, X Games, Dew Tour and the occasional musician or celebrity has even entered. Over time the event has turned from a play ride to a really competitive event that displays considerable talent.
Adding to the vibe of feeling like a pro GoPro brings their production team out to shoot video from the event mounting several HD Hero 2 cameras throughout the class. Dunlop opens their factory rig and mounts fresh tires for participants plus tons of product and prizes are given from Haro, HPI, Atomic, Thor and Red Bull.
The GoPro Crossover Challenge will be happening Friday May 18th and will be the last moto of the day. Top athletes like Shaun Palmer (good at everything), Daron Rahlves (Ski), Nate Holland (Snowboard), Allan Cooke (BMX), Casey Kelly (Skateboard), Mark Silva (MTB), Tony Sabatella (MMA), Keith Hutchins (Snowmobile) and many more will be airing out the full pro track layout.
